MSN joins the fight

Microsoft is planning on creating its own search engine. That’s what’s being said in this article on Yahoo News. This is already the second (after Yahoo) company that stops using Google’s tech and started its own.

Both new engines will give precedence, full precedence to paid listings, or partial, by placing it on a top-right bar.

This news affects all webdesigners who want good listing, both positively and negatively.
You now have not only one search engine to optimise to, you have three, so more work.
On the other hand, If you drop a few spots in Google, you don’t necessarely drop in MSN and Yahoo.

For now, it’s only speculation, we’ll have to wait ’till April to see the first results.
